Levi from The Rag Company takes us on an exclusive tour of NVN Motor Works in London, a detail shop that is revolutionizing the car detailing industry. Originally established in Dubai, the London branch opened in March with a mission to create a friendlier car culture and elevate the detailing experience.
The Customer Experience
The tour begins in a luxury lounge designed by Timothy Oulton, featuring fighter-jet-inspired furniture. A full glass wall separates the lounge from the workshop, allowing customers to enjoy a coffee while watching their cars being worked on in total transparency.
The Workshop & Cleanliness
The facility boasts Italian tiled floors and a specialized water purification system to handle London’s harsh water. Alfie, the Detail Manager, emphasizes that they never rush their work to avoid mistakes. The shop is kept immaculate, with staff polishing the floors daily to prevent dust—a common issue in detailing shops.
Flexible Workspace
Instead of fixed ramps that limit movement, NVN uses an open floor plan. Each staff member has a mobile tool cart and stool, allowing them to adapt the space based on how busy they are. The shop also features a “live wall” of plants, inspired by Google and Ferrari, to improve oxygen and the working environment.
Design & Staff Welfare
The in-house Design Center, run by a former Lamborghini designer, creates and tweaks custom Paint Protection Film (PPF) templates. Alfie highlights their upstairs staff break room, noting that looking after staff health and stress levels leads to more efficient, higher-quality work.
Quality Control & Aftercare
Every car passes through a Quality Control bay for inspection before and after the work. A key part of their business model is a mandatory follow-up wash 3–4 weeks later. This allows them to inspect the product’s performance, fix any minor issues, and build a lasting relationship with the customer.
